My name is Luke Jensen. Prior to attending MIT, I worked in low-speed aerodynamic testing and helped to develop new pressure-sensitive flow visualization techniques. I also worked at Blue Origin, LLC on a privately-funded space launch system. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the University of Washington in Seattle and a Master’s degree in the same field from MIT.
Outside of research, I am a certificated commercial pilot and flight instructor with a background in antique aircraft restoration.
My research focuses on operational strategies for environmental mitigations in air transportation. Past work addressed fuel burn reduction potential in the cruise phase of flight through altitude and speed optimization. My current research focuses on opportunities for noise reduction in the terminal environment, primarily focusing on procedure design opportunities and constraints at major US airports.
