I come from Los Angeles, CA and I am currently finishing my master’s degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT. For my research, I am developing a computer model to understand the effects of changes in aviation on air quality near airports. Because airports are often located near populated areas, changes in aviation practices, technology, and policies can affect the health of people living near airports. The model I am developing will enable assessment of these health impacts on a wider scale than previously possible. Because the model runs quickly, local air quality assessments for large numbers of airports can be performed quickly, such as may be useful in national or international policy assessments.
