I come from Cologne, Germany and my research focuses on the impacts of fuel price shocks on the airline industry. This includes policy-related fuel price increases (for instance due to climate policies or biofuel mandates) as well as oil-price volatility-driven fuel price increases. I work closely with MIT’s Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change to conduct global scale assessments. Policy assessment work that I have been involved in includes the Waxman-Markey Climate Bill and its impacts on US aviation, the impacts of the EU-Emissions Trading Scheme on US Airlines or a Cost-Benefit Analysis of the desulphurization of jet fuel. I also research alternative jet fuels and their production cost.
